Driving in Phuket

Travel tips you need to read to survive driving in Phuket!
Driving in Thailand and Phuket
When driving in Thailand or Phuket, remember to drive on the left side. Roads in Thailand can be sometimes on the narrow side, so don’t get too intimidated driving next to a bus or a truck. Always go straight and expect the unexpected:
- cars ignoring traffic signs
- cars driving on your lane towards you
- cars getting on the road "out of nowhere".
Phuket car rental
To qualify for car rental in Phuket, travelers need to have:
- an international driver’s license or
- a Thai driver’s license.
A driving license from your native country is not officially accepted. An international driver’s license is just a form of your own license remade into a universal format that you can get it in your own country.
